Buying e-liquid: what should I look for?
If you are looking for e-liquid for your e-cigarette, the first thing to consider is which e-cigarette you have or are planning to buy. This is important because this determines the corresponding coils you are going to use. The coils are the combustors of the e-cigarette, that heat the e-liquid, thus creating a visible vapor. The type of e-liquid you are going to buy depends on the coil that you use in your e-cigarette. There are two sorts of coils: -1.0 Ohm coils and + 1.0 Ohm coils. In the section below you can find out which coil matches which e-liquid.
E-liquid for -1.0 coils and + 1.0 Ohm coils
The main difference between these two types of coils is the way they are used for vaping. With all coils under 1.0 Ohm (-1.0 Ohm), like 0.3, 0.5 Ohm e-liquids and so on, the e-liquid is vaporized directly into the lungs (“Direct Lung”). These coils can handle a higher wattage and we advise to use an e-liquid that has a VG of 50 or more. With coils above 1.0 Ohm (+1.0 Ohm), like 1.2, 1.6 Ohm e-liquids and so on, the vapor first enters the mouth and is then subsequently vaporized over the lungs ("Mouth to Long"). This simulates the experience of smoking a regular cigarette. With these coils we suggest an e-liquid containing a PG of 50 or higher, as these liquids are slightly thinner and are therefore more easily absorbed by the +1.0 Ohm coils. There are also many 50/50 e-liquids that contain an equal ratio of PG and VG. You can use these liquids with almost any coil. On every e-liquid the PG/VG ratio is specified and on every coil it says which resistance (Ohm) it has. This makes sure you always know which combinations of coils and e-liquids are possible.
Nicotine in e-liquids: what strength is right for me?
Each e-liquid is available with and without nicotine. The following levels are the most common for e-liquids: Omg, 3mg, 6mg, 12mg and 18mg. The 0mg has no nicotine in it which is recommended if you are vaping purely to enjoy the variety of flavors and do not want to get nicotine in your system. The 3mg variant is best compared to a light cigarette, 6mg best to a medium or normal cigarette and 12mg to 18 mg as more than normal and a heavy cigarette. Most people feel comfortable in reaching their desired nicotine level within 15 to 20 puffs.
What kind of e-liquids are there?
These are e-liquids in different PG and VG contents with nicotine strengths often ranging between 0,3,6,12 and 18 mg.
These are e-liquids containing nicotine salts. These e-liquids ensure that high nicotine strengths can be vaporised without it feeling sharp in the lungs. Nic salts are often used in POD systems, among other things.
Shake and Vapes are large volume bottles of e-liquid without nicotine. They are available in 50ml, 100ml and 200ml. They can be mixed with nicotine if desired.
Aromas are a concentrate of the e-liquid in order to make your own e-liquid via base or a nicotine booster. Very suitable for the creative vaper who wants to create his own taste by combining different flavours and proportions.
Nic boosters are neutral in taste and often have a high nicotine level of 18/20mg to add to a Shake and Vape or aroma, as these do not contain nicotine in the first place.
